When we talk about revival, growth, or church transformation, we often think of new strategies or big events. But Jesus points us somewhere much simpler\u2014and far more powerful. The first step is repentance. Before any lasting change happens in the church, it must begin in our own hearts.<\/span><\/p>\n The story of repentance begins with Jesus Himself. Scripture calls Him the \u201cSunrise from on high\u201d\u2014the One who brings light to those sitting in darkness (Luke 1:78-79). Without His light, we remain trapped in old habits, regrets, and sin. But Jesus doesn\u2019t leave us there. He shines into every shadow, offering a new path, full of peace and hope.<\/span><\/p>\n Jesus tells His followers, \u201cYou are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden\u201d (Matthew 5:14-16). The church isn\u2019t meant to blend in or hide away. Our calling is to shine\u2014through good works, through grace, and especially through honest repentance. When the church lives in the light, the world takes notice. Real change begins not with outward appearance, but with inner surrender.<\/span><\/p>\n From the very start of His ministry, Jesus preached, \u201cRepent and believe in the good news!\u201d (Mark 1:15). This wasn\u2019t a suggestion; it was a command. Repentance means to turn away from our old ways and turn back to God. It\u2019s not just about feeling sorry; it\u2019s about a true change of direction\u2014mind, heart, and will.<\/span><\/p>\n The first believers obeyed this call. Peter echoed Jesus in Acts 2:38: \u201cRepent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.\u201d Repentance is the very first step in joining God\u2019s family and growing together as a church.<\/span><\/p>\n Repentance is more than a moment\u2014it\u2019s a movement from darkness to light, from self to God. The book of Acts says, \u201cRepent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord\u201d (Acts 3:19). When we repent:<\/span><\/p>\n Repentance isn\u2019t just for the \u201creally bad\u201d people. The Bible says, \u201cGod commands all people everywhere to repent\u201d (Acts 17:30). No one is left out. Repentance is the doorway for every believer, every church, and every movement of God.<\/span><\/p>\n Repentance opens the way for God\u2019s power and presence. Jesus longed to do miracles in places where people refused to repent (Matthew 11:20). When we hold onto our sin, we block the flow of God\u2019s blessing. But when we repent, God wipes away our guilt and brings times of refreshing. True revival never starts with a program\u2014it starts with humble hearts.<\/span><\/p>\n Jesus described repentance as \u201copening our eyes, turning from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God\u201d (Acts 26:18).
